It can affect up to 30% of women, and 5% of men, between ages of 15-64. This percentage increases as we get older.

Physical Therapy can play an important role in the treatment of stress and urge incontinence. Often the result of weakness, lack of proper muscle control/coordination, and postural problems, therapy can employ a variety of techniques to manage and even eliminate the problem of incontinence.

Duration of treatment is generally 6-9 visits, over a 3-4 month period. A prescription from your doctor, or primary care provider, is required to begin treatment. A Physical Therapist will conduct a detailed assessment in order to tailor a treatment plan to your goals and needs.
